Looking for excitement - Here's our list:
- Fine Dining - Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than New
York City. A few recommendations: Moosewood Restaurant
for vegetarians. For meat lovers, John Thomas Steakhouse.
While you are downtown, don't forget to explore The Ithaca Commons.
- Wegmans - a true grocery shopping experience if you aren't from the area.
- Shopping - When Wegmans, The Commons, and the local mall won't cut it, there's always the Syracuse Mall and the Waterloo Premium Outlets.
- Fishing & Boating- Cayuga Lake is well known for its amazing bass fishing, and the local rivers are popular for fly fishing.
- Wine Tasting & Antiques - Pop into a few vineyards in the
area and enjoy the local wine selection. Finish off the day
exploring a few of the regions many Antique stores.
- Waterfalls, Gorges, & Hiking - Ithaca is Gorges and has
about 150 waterfalls. Taughannock
Falls has a higher vertical drop than Niagara Falls.
Buttermilk Falls and Ithaca Falls are both popular areas with
students. And there are plenty of trails to hike through the
parks or the plantations.
- Arts, Culture & Education - There's always something going on at Cornell University and Ithaca College.
- Looking for more excitement? Check out Watkins Glen during a race week in
the summer or Greek Peak for
skiing during the winter.
- Science Exploration - Check out the Sciencenter, the Sagan Planet
